We'll schedule your initial appointment. This usually lasts 30-60 minutes via Zoom or on the phone; your therapist will ask some questions about the things that bring you to counselling, and explain the privacy, ethical and confidentiality policies, the number and duration of sessions, what you can expect from counselling and your counsellor, what you want from counselling, what happens if you cancel or miss a session, what sessions might involve, and any questions or worries you have.
You will not be charged for the initial appointment.
You'll explore your needs at your initial appointment, and if you decide to go ahead with therapy, your sessions will begin. Unless agreed otherwise, sessions are 60 minutes long and usually weekly; you may find you need more or less frequent sessions, which you can agree with your counsellor. There is no maximum or minimum number of sessions; many people find 10-20 to be helpful, but you may need more or fewer. Unless agreed otherwise, payment is required within 7 days after your session.
